What are the Key features of NIR Long-pass Filters for Beauty Devices?
The NIR long-pass filters are widely used in beauty and skin care devices. These filters block shorter wavelengths while allowing near-infrared light above the specified cut-off wavelength to pass through.Normally, the cut-off wavelength are determined by the device’s functions and optical requirements.
Common transmission ranges include 700–1100nm, 720–1100nm, 760–1100nm, and 780–1100nm. For different applications, manufacturers can customize the cutoff wavelength and extend the transmission range to 1200nm or even 1800nm.
What are the Key parameters should be considered when selecting a suitable Longpass Filter?
When selecting a suitable long-pass filter, normally the key parameters are include as below:
- Cut-off Wavelength: This is one of the most important parameters. Manufacturers typically define the cut-off wavelength as the point where transmittance reaches 50%.
- Average or Peak Transmittance: Standard filters typically provide an average transmittance of 90% or higher. If an application requires 92% or 95% transmittance, the target value should be specified when discussing requirements with the manufacturer. An additional AR coating may help improve transmittance.
- Blocking Level: Manufacturers usually express blocking performance as optical density (OD). Standard filters typically offer OD2–OD3, while applications requiring stronger blocking may need OD4–OD6.
- Angle of Incidence (AOI): Interference filters are sensitive to the angle of incidence, which can affect spectral performance. The standard AOI is typically 0°. Other angles, such as 30° or 45°, should be specified during the design stage.
- Physical and Environmental Requirements: Substrate material, dimensions, thickness, surface quality, and environmental durability also affect filter selection. These specifications should match the requirements of the intended application.

Shenzhen Hengda Liyuan Optoelectronics introduced advanced optical vacuum technology that apply depositing nano-materials through ion-assisted evaporation onto a multilayer hard film in a high vacuum environment, which the coating layer is firm and has good tightness and small bandwidth drift. The company have been focus on optical coating for more than 17 years ,and the company offer one-stop optical filters solution including Narrow Bandpass Filters, IR cut-off Filters, Longpass Filters, Shortpass Filters, Notch Filters, ND filters, Star filters and Optical sapphire block.
Remark:Because the interference type filter varies its spectral performance at different angles, the spectral parameters usually determine its appearance color; moreover, the pictures in this link may originate from various shooting angles, so the actual color of the parts should therefore refer to the final spectral parameters required.
