1. Optical substrates are loaded onto the umbrella tooling with their coating surfaces facing downward
2. The umbrella frame is positioned above the evaporation source inside the vacuum chamber
3. The entire assembly rotates during coating to ensure uniform deposition
4. Evaporated material travels upward from the source and condenses onto the substrates
